The imagery is irrelevant, I hope you will be reading the chapter instead as you listen to the music. Top Chapter 3, Fundamental Concepts The Matrix This conspiracy theory anthem nonetheless contains an excellent analogy of the role of the individual in modern society. EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed This film contains a moving description of the operation of the mechanisms of life. It also contains ample caution about the fate of those who defy the collective. Top Chapter 5, Prancing Rabbits This video depicts a couple subjected to environmental re-education. This episode teaches lessons that the producer didn't intend, as discussed in this chapter. Unfortunately, this episode keeps disappearing, so our links go poof after a while. Search for 30 Days Off The Grid and find it somewhere. Top Chapter 11, Math and Science Loony Toons: Little Boy Boo This classic cartoon contains an interesting perspective of knowledge. If anyone knows a good source for a Warner Brothers version, let let me know. AMC Series Breaking Bad, Season 1 This dark series points out the power that knowledge provides, even to a terminally ill cancer patient. It speaks the hidden fears of the collective when faced with those with the power of knowledge. Top Chapter 13, The Idea Factory Flash of Genius This movie is a feel-good triumph of the little guy over the collective. I assume it is intended to keep you struggling away. Top Chapter 16, On International Relations Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb This movie was required viewing at the Naval Academy. We cheered when the crew took the initiative and went hot. I'm sure that's not what the producers intended. It certainly wasn't what our instructor expected. She blanched. Top Chapter 19, Gun Control Valkyrie A moving portrayal of the actual events surrounding one of the many failed assassination attempts on Hitler during World War II. The importance of this movie in the context of this book is how the takeover of the government failed because one man made the wrong decision. Top Chapter 20, Smoke Filled Rooms On Wings of Eagles This dated film shows the initiative displayed by H. Ross Perot to rescue his employees from Iran while his fellow Naval Academy grad, Jimmy Carter, did little but whine about the American embassy staff taken hostage. Top |
